This week is Black History Celebrations.  Kids will attend an assembly Wednesday and in the evening the school will be open for presentations and a gallery walk.  Please see the PTO enews for more information.  If you have not signed up to receive email and or robo calls please consider doing that right away.

Today the school had an emergency drill “lock down.” In room 112 we discussed how safety sometimes includes practicing so that in the event something happens we will not panic.  Students shared what they had heard about the events in Florida.  We acknowledged how sad and tragic and horrible it is that this happened.  We also talked about the fact that Ray is in a safe community.  If you have questions or concerns about our conversation do not hesitate to call me at the school to discuss it.

In reading we will investigate diversity through a series of stories about people from different backgrounds.

In math we will continue unit 6 (Adding/subtracting, doubles facts, 10 more/10 less, base ten and number stories)

In science we will continue investigating sounds and light.

Read daily and keep track of minutes
Sight word practice: Called, just, where, more, know

Math worksheet & memorize single digit facts practice (Mon – thur)
Fix the sentences worksheet (Mon – Thur)

Reading Log: (note: please try to read a minimum 10 minutes each day.  An adult reading aloud to a child counts.  If you miss a day simply write 0 on the line)
