Another short week!

The African American Heritage event was a great success!  Thanks to everyone who came out!

This week we are reviewing all the long i spellings, homophones and homographs, and story structure.  In math we are working on addition with 2 digits (without regrouping and with regrouping) In science we will begin a transition from earth materials to engineering conversations.

Please look for a field trip form in the take home folders and return it as soon as possible.  We do not accept trip forms and fees the day of the trip.

Home assignments: (Reading logs are due each Monday. Writing assignments are due each Friday.)

Reading minimum 15 minutes daily —weekends too! (log printed on the back of this sheet)

A “Writing Application” project will last all 5 days of the week Monday: Plan (choose from the 2 topics provided) Tuesday Draft, Wednesday revise (make it better) Thursday edit (check for errors) Friday publish (turn it in to the teacher)

Writing ApplicationNote parents may “share the pen” if needed as we start the year and turn it over to more independent writing as we progress.

Choice 1 Creative Writing
Pretend you are a grasshopper.  Write a story about somethig funny that happened to you.  Begin the story with these words:  Jumping isn’t always the best way to travel…

Choice 2: My What’s bugging you
Pretend a scientist has just found a strange, new species of bug.  Write questions you would like to ask the scientist about the bug.  Skip lines under each question. Then write the scientist’s answers.
