Dear Warrior Parents,

Please turn in the lunch forms even if you do not intend to have your child eat the school lunch. The forms are a very improtant part of the funding for the school.

We are going to the Field Museum on Wednesday. Please pack a large lunch for your child.  It is reccomended that it be put inot a disposable bag so that we do not lose any lunch pails on the trip.

We need snacks.  Please consider buying something healthy for the whole group the next time you are at the market.

Students need water bottles for their desks. as the weather gets cold we are experiencing very dry air in the school and we get very thirsty.  It is difficult to get out to the fountain without disrupting lessons.

Be aware that we are asking students read every day at home even on weekends and over holidays.  Please try to keep up with the reading contracts so students can receive the pizza incentive each month( 4 contracts a month arerequired)

Home assignments:

Reading minimum 15 minutes daily —weekends too! (log printed on the back of this sheet)

Math sheet–Mon through Thurs

A “Writing Application” project will last all 5 days of the week Monday: Plan (choose from the 2 topics provided) Tuesday Draft, Wednesday revise (make it better) Thursday edit (check for errors) Friday publish (turn it in to the teacher)

Writing Application: Note parents may “share the pen” if needed as we start the year and turn it over to more independent writing as we progress.

Choice 1: An Ad
Pretend your family owns a summer camp.  Write an ad about the camp.  Tell what children will like about the place.  Tell about indoor and outdoor games and sports children will play there.

Choice 2: Dear Diary
Pretend you went on a camping trip in the woods.  Make a diary entry that tells about your trip.  Did anything funny happen?  For each day of your trip, write the date and what you saw and did.
