Design and make your own lantern followed by Lantern Parade
5:30 – 6:30 pm
Potluck dinner in the cafeteria and learn about Lunar New Year Traditions
Please bring a dish with food symbolism for Lunar New Year. For example, dish with long noodles means long life. Chicken dish for prosperity. Meat ball dish for reunion. Mixed vegetables for harmony. Dumplings for togetherness and reunion. Click here>

No School Monday February 15th.
Please look for a list of students for Valentine’s Card exchange.  Students will exchange cards on Friday February 13th.  A light snack will be provided.  Please do NOT send candy or party contributions.

Home Assignments:

  • Read daily 15 minute minimum 7 days (track on the contract due Mon)
  • Math Home link (make it more challenging for your child as needed)
  • Word study: daily practice sight words for improved reading fluency (5 days)
  • Writing Application: Mon plan, Tues draft, Wed revise, Thurs edit, Fri submit

Choice #1: A Description
Pretend you invented a new flying machine.  Tell about the machine and how it works.

Choice #2: Before there was flight
In 1903 Orville Wright made the first flight in an airplane.  His famous ride lasted only 12 seconds.  He flew just 120 feet, about the length of 3 school buses.  Write a story about what it may have been like for him to have made such an important accomplishment.  Try to write from Orville’s point of view.
