BRRRR!!!  be sure to dress in layers because the weather out is cold and the weather in is unpredictable!

If anyone is interested in hosting our class pets (2 dwarf hamsters) for the winter break please let me know. I will be in town over the break and can take them myself, but I want to offer it as some families like to try out having a pet for a brief time.

This week we will be back to our regular class and home assignment routines.  Expect a writing assignment and word list and reading log and math sheets as usual.

We need snacks for the next 4 weeks!  We are down to one giant box of cheese its.  Thanks to all of you who have already donated!

Please look for a field trip permission slip in the folder this week.  We are reserving seats for a production that must be paid in advance.  Please return the slips and fee as soon as you receive it.

If you did not make it to report card conferences the report cards are in my mailbox in the main office.  Also you missed the handouts regarding sight word practice suggestions.  Let me know if you would like that information.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the families of room 112!

School Directory: Please help us create a Ray School 2018-2019 Directory so that students and parents can communicate more easily with each other. Direct parents to the paper forms in the main office, or the online form via Ray’s website (https://tinyurl.com/y8985qbo).

This week the class will not have home assignments except to help out around the house and of course read each day.

After the long weekend we will be in need of snack contributions.  We also need Crayola Crayon (classic type) donations.

Have a great holiday everyone!

Please sign up for a parent conference on the Ray School website under my classroom.
No class for students Wednesday.
Please send your child in layers of warm clothes during the cold weather.
Please consider donating some Crayola Crayons (standard type—not the pen kind) we are running low
Please consider donating a healthy snack
We begin Music classes with Ms. Walker today. Be sure to ask your child about the music class.
Your home assignments may include a need for a calculator. Please make sure you have one at home, or please consider sitting with your first grader while they use the calculator on your cell phone.
In reading we are working on making predictions and checking our predictions. Students will also be asked to make inferences. They should be able to explain to you what predicting and inferencing mean.
Please see your child’s personal sight word list for sight word practice
In math we are preparing for the unit 3 assessment.
In science we are beginning a unit on sound and light
In social science we will discuss family traditions.

Read daily and track on the reading contract (due each Monday following the weekend’s reading)

This month is often tricky for kids, as we break with routine often.  There are several days of nonattendance making it difficult to remember items in home assignments and daily routines such as the take home folder.  Please help your child keep up with the extra demands on organization this month.

2 personal notes:  Anyone able/interested in helping to build a tiered seating area in my classroom please reach out to me. Or if you know a cheap handyman type person let me know.

Also, I have a dear friend who is moving in with aging parents and needs to rehome 2 sister cats (house trained and lovey) If you can take in these two beauties please let me know asap.
