Happy Leap Year Day!

Please consider donating a snack.  We are low on snacks and we get very hungry mid afternoon. Remember we have several dietary restrictions.  Please check ingredients for any corn (corn syrup, corn, corn corn corn), we cannot have corn or nuts or dairy. (corn syrup, corn, corn corn corn)

Ray School Blood Drive is March 2. Please consider donating.  We will be here until 6pm!

Our next field trip is tentatively scheduled for March 10th.  The cost of the trip is 44.  Please return the permission slip and fee as soon as you receive it.

Choice #1: A Story About Me
Think of friends you visited in their house or apartment. Write a story about your visit. Tell why it was fun or exciting.

Choice #2: My Dream Home
If you could live anywhere, where would you live? Would you live in a castle, on a houseboat, or in an igloo? Write about your dream home.  What does it look like?  What is special about it?

100th day of school has arrived!  We will take a close look at the number 100 this week.

We will have the unit assessment in Math this week.  Please review with your second grader making change, start change end stories, estimating measurement, and place value.

Choice #1:A Poem
Write a poem about a baby animal.  You might write a poem about an animal you had as a pet.  You might write about an animal you saw at the zoo or in a store.

Choice #2: Pet Poster
Pretend you own a pet that just had babies.  You want to find good homes for them.  Make a poster.  Draw a picture of the baby animals, and write sentences about them under the picture.

Festival of Lanterns

Potluck dinner in the cafeteria and learn about Lunar New Year Traditions
Please bring a dish with food symbolism for Lunar New Year. For example, dish with long noodles means long life. Chicken dish for prosperity. Meat ball dish for reunion. Mixed vegetables for harmony. Dumplings for togetherness and reunion. Click here>

Choice #1: A Description
Pretend you invented a new flying machine.  Tell about the machine and how it works.

Choice #2: Before there was flight
In 1903 Orville Wright made the first flight in an airplane.  His famous ride lasted only 12 seconds.  He flew just 120 feet, about the length of 3 school buses.  Write a story about what it may have been like for him to have made such an important accomplishment.  Try to write from Orville’s point of view.
