This week your child will bring home all of their work, workbooks, and a special Summer Activity pack designed to help you offer structure to your child’s summer experience.  Please make sure they read ,  do a little writing, and practice math skills each day.

Have a great summer!!

Parents,

Tomorrow Chicago Teacher’s Union is holding a Rally for the Schools Chicago Deserve.  Please join us at the Thompson Center downtown at 5pm.

Next week you will receive your summer activity packet.  Please use this to help create some structure to your third grader’s summer days.  Even with travel and summer camp students should be encouraged to read and write daily.  Math activities can be done formally in workbooks and incidentally with every day activities such as asking them to count coins with you and sort laundry and read an analog clock.

Friday the 19th is our All School Picnic.  Half of the day we will be outdoors and the other half we will be watching a movie in the auditorium.  Families are welcome.  Bring a blanket, chairs, and extra drinks and snacks. (no electronic toys please) Remember that anything brought to a picnic cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

Please contribute a snack for these last days together.

Welcome to the first week of June.  We have some special things planned for the end of the year.

Second Grade students take their Year end NWEA exam the first week of June.  There is nothing to do to prepare, except to encourage your child to relax, eat a big breakfast and do their best.

The year end Picnic is scheduled for all day on June 19th.

The last weeks will follow the same routine as the rest of the year.  We will provide some summer activity suggestions and study guides before the end of the year.  In the mean time please continue to follow our regular home assignment routines.

Please contribute snack.
