The 7th is a non attendance day for students
The 11th is a holiday and the 12th is report card conferences.
Please plan your childcare ahead of time.

Please look for the conference sign up sheet in the take home folder. Indicate first, second and third choice times and return the form to me. I will then sign you up in the closest available time slot and send the form back to you to confirm your time.

A giant thank you to all of the parent Chaperones who braved the weather to help us make the trip a success. Our next trip will be to the Field Museum on November 18th. We will not need as many chaperones for that trip. Please let the classroom teacher know if you are available.

Dear Families,
Please be respectful of our choice to leave Halloween festivities at home this year. Our trip to the farm is strictly a fall, harvest, animal, life cycle study. Please leave costumes at home or in backpacks. Additionally, please keep candy at home. Students bringing candy to class may be very disappointed when the teacher has to confiscate it, but it is a terrible distraction.

We need chaperones for our trip this Friday. Please let the classroom teacher know if you are able to attend.

Our trip to the movie at Logan Center has been postponed. Please look for further updates in the take home folder. A giant thank you to all the parents who have responded in such a timely manner to our Harlem Dance Theater request. If you have not paid for that trip yet please do so ASAP as we will lose our seats if we do not pay for it this week.

The 28th we will walk to the U of C to see a movie titled “Worms”. If you are a parent that is available to chaperone please let us know right away. We also need chaperones for the 31st trip to the Children’s farm.

Please donate Clorox Wipes to help our efforts to limit the spread of germs in the classroom.

As the weather becomes more unpredictable, please consider dressing your child in layers. We will try to go out of doors as much as possible. Remember if your child is not well enough to participate in the mid day recess they should not be sent to school. There is no one to monitor kids separately from the whole group at lunch.

Dear Second Grade Parents,
Below is a tentative field trip schedule for this school year. It is subject to change, but we wanted you to have this as we plan for the year. We need to pay for the theater seats in advance so we will be asking for the fee for at least two of the trips well in advance. If we do not get payment for those shows on time from all students we will have to cancel some trips. The school budget will not cover any student seats. The chaperone seats are covered by the student fees. If the cost of any one trip is prohibitive please contact your child’s teacher to make payment arrangements.
Thank you in advance for your continued support to the outstanding curricular experiences we are offering at Ray School.
